During the post-Kargil War period, Heena Rehman, a Bangladeshi woman suspected to be working for ISI, is assassinated by the Bangladeshi Defense Minister, Mirza, during a party at his residence, prompted by information received over the phone.

In India, Krishna Mehra (Tabu), an operative at the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW), is devastated by Heena's death. Unbeknownst to many, Heena was, in fact, working for R&AW, and she had attempted to eliminate Mirza as part of a mission for the agency. Krishna, who had a brief romantic history with Heena, learns of her true allegiance. Jeev (Ashish Vidyarthi), Krishna's boss, informs her that there is a mole in the R&AW office who leaked information leading to Heena's demise. Krishna is tasked with identifying and apprehending this mole, who compromised India's defense secrets.

Krishna and Jeev establish that R&AW employee Ravi (Ali Fazal), whose opulent lifestyle does not align with his income, is the likely mole. They suspect Ravi's wife, Charu (Wamiqa Gabi), of being his accomplice in divulging sensitive information. With official authorization, they electronically bug Ravi's residence. Through surveillance, they unravel the intricacies of the operation, discovering that Ravi is working for the CIA at the insistence of his money-hungry mother, and that Charu is innocent.

Simultaneously, Jeev and his Chief uncover that Heena's death was not solely a result of Ravi leaking information to the CIA, who then passed it on to Mirza. Instead, it was revealed that the Central Minister of Home Affairs had disclosed the information to the CIA to prevent the USA from canceling its nuclear deal with India. Jeev and his Chief are appalled that their superior allowed one of their assets to perish in the pursuit of maintaining the nuclear deal, but they decide to keep this revelation confidential to avoid further complications.
